JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Metro area women rolled up their sleeves, pulled back their hair and got dirty to help a mother and her family build a priceless Mother's Day gift.

There were some strong women who carried a heavy wooden truss for the up and coming Habitat for Humanity House.

"You notice a lot of women? Oh yes, it's a lot of them working hard." said a neighborhood boy.

LaKeshia White is doing some hard work herself. She along with her two children and mom will move into the house. Everyone is helping to build their home.

White says she feels empowered getting help from a construction crew of mostly women.

"When everybody says that phrase that women can do anything they prove it," White said.

White's home is Jackson's "Women's Build 2013" house.

The construction project brought moms and daughters together who have the hearts to give White and her family what ever mom deserves.

"I can't imagine growing up in a house that wasn't very safe, decent housing surrounding us. So its so important to be able to help another woman provide for her children in a safe, decent, affordable house," said Maura Phillips, Chairwoman of Women Build 2013.

More than 500 volunteers are helping to build this Women Build House 2013. All of the progress is expected to be complete by the end of June.

"For women to help support women that's just a huge sign of self confidence it's a booster, so I'm excited to see this many women here," said Lynn Fitch, Women Build Honorary Chairwoman.

White's 12-hundred square foot home will include four bedrooms and two bathrooms.

The soon to be homeowner says it's a gift that'll make this Mother's Day very special.

"This is the best Mother's Day gift we both can have and to share something we can both actually say we did this," White said.

Mother's Day wraps up "National Women Build Week".

It's a weeklong effort to celebrate women and challenge them to give back to the community.

White's home is being built in Jackson's Virden Addition Neighborhood.
