GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - The rain didn't slow down the Gulfport Music Festival Friday night. But, the severe weather that overlapped into Saturday morning caused damage to the main stage, forcing organizers to cancel several of the day bands set to play.
Gulfport Public Information Officer Ryan LaFontaine said the main stage is closed and currently being replaced. LaFontaine said the organizers are using extreme caution and, due to safety reasons, are delaying some of the bigger shows and canceling others. The main grounds are closed until the new stage is set up.
Rosco Bandana's act has been canceled, as well as others.
LaFontaine said they expect delayed starts on the following shows: Wiz Khalifa, One Republic and Smashing Pumpkins.
The pavilion remains open and LaFontaine is confident there is a still a lot fun, music and food to enjoy.
