Illness causes Cindy McCain to miss Prince Harry's visit

PHOENIX (CBS5) -

The wife of Sen. John McCain is recovering from knee surgery.

Cindy McCain went under the knife to get rid of a deadly infection.

Last Saturday, Cindy McCain tweeted, "I've been off the grid. 3 wks ago I developed a nasty staph infection in my R knee. 2 surgeries later and tons of PT I'm getting better. Still in the hospital!"

Three days later, she tweeted, "Beating this staph infection in my knee. 85 degrees bend now and pain is much less. Can't wait to get out of the hospital. 3 wks in here."

Due to her surgery, Cindy McCain was unable to join her husband in Washington, D.C. for Prince Harry's visit on Thursday.
