RANKIN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Fannin Water Association has lifted the precautionary boil water alert for customers who receive drinking water from their supply. Tests performed by the Mississippi State Department of Health indicate the water is safe to drink.

The alert affected more than 7,000 customers in Rankin County.

Friday water system officials notified the MSDH of a system wide pressure loss due to a power outage caused by a storm.

According to the department of health, any system that loses pressure is considered contaminated until tests prove otherwise.
