RIDGELAND, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Ross Barnett Reservoir was the place to be Monday night for wonderful live music. Hundreds kicked back to take in the beautiful music and weather at the annual Pepsi Pops event featuring the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra.

There were clear blue skies and warm temperatures for the annual sundown symphony concert at Old Trace Park.

Music by Irving Berlin, John Williams and American song writers stared off the outdoor concert by the shoreline at Old Trace Park.

The 32nd annual Pepsi Pops concert drew hundreds to the reservoir for an evening of classical and popular music.

Families brought lawn chairs, blankets and coolers. They picnicked by the water listening to the live orchestra led by Conductor Crafton Beck.

Chester and Eloise Epperson of Yazoo City try not to miss this annual event.

"This is our son and daughter-in-law Steve and Rachel. They've just moved here from Indiana, and this is their first time here. So we thought we'd bring them," said Chester Epperson.

"We enjoy the music, the atmosphere and the picnic that we bring with us, and we like to see the children run around and have so much fun," added Eloise Epperson.

Pepsi Pops is the big closing event for the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra's concert season which runs from September to May.

A fireworks show finished off all of the musical entertainment.

The event, originally scheduled for Friday, was delayed because of the weather.
