PEARL, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Local and state dignitaries, as well as developers are gathered for the official groundbreaking ceremony for "The Outlets of Mississippi," construction project in Pearl.

Construction on the project started several months ago, but today's ceremony is meant to dedicate the construction project and its future as a retail center.

More than 80 brand name stores will open at the outlet mall. Several new stores were announced today. Those stores include, GNC, Charlotte Russe, Crazy 8, Direct Tools, Levi's, Motherhood Maternity, Rue 21 and Toys R Us.

"We are so excited about the buildings and then the stores. I know the ladies in this area are so excited," said Pearl Alderman Tommie Hill (District 4).

In addition to massive shopping sprees expected at the mall, the "Outlets of Mississippi" will also bring in massive amounts of cash and jobs to the area.

"It will impact us more than $1million per year. Locally right here on site 1,200 to 1,300 jobs here will be produced by the sales positions and management positions," explained Pearl Mayor Brad Rogers.

The outlet mall is expected to open November 14, 2013.
