WLOX Editorial: We have to look out for one another
Three kidnapped women were freed from a decade of captivity in their own neighborhood in Cleveland. We have great praise for the neighbor who heard the screams and reacted. But, there are still so many unanswered questions.
Why didn't the neighbors notice before now? How did their captors manage to conceal their victims for a decade? Did they see something, but dismiss it as none of their business? Did the neighbors say something, but no one paid attention? Could this or other bad things be going on in our own neighborhoods? And what can we do?
We have to all look out for one another. Consider starting or joining a neighborhood watch program. If you see something odd, let your voice be heard. You may be righting a terrible wrong.
That's our opinion, we would like to hear yours. Email your thoughts to firstname.lastname@example.org, or post your comments below.
