Christopher Dorner's gun sells for $4K at auction

NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV (FOX5) -

A southern Nevada organizations is scheduled to be presented Thursday with a $4,000 check made from proceeds of an auction that sold a gun touted as one once owned by Christopher Dorner.

Bargain Pawn of North Las Vegas put the Astra 960 revolver that it said was owned by Dorner up for bids last month.

The pawn shop said it was donating all proceeds from the sale of the firearm to local organization Veterans Care Foundation.

According to a representative of the organization, Dorner's gun was sold for $4,025. A check presentation was set for noon.

Bargain Pawn said it bought the revolver from Dorner on Jan. 15 at a price of $50.

The shop also has images from a surveillance camera that show Dorner selling the gun, and a signed sale ticket by the former Las Vegas resident.

The sale was made just weeks before a killing spree began throughout Southern California, of which Dorner was a suspect. Dorner was eventually connected to the slayings of four people in a spree that began Feb. 3.

"My son recognized him when all the stuff started to happen, said Bargain Pawn's co-owner George Bramlett. "He says, 'I think we bought a gun from him.'"

Dorner, who also had a $1 million bounty for his capture, eventually died during a standoff with authorities in Big Bear Lake, CA.

Veterans Care Foundation, the beneficiary of the auction, says it helps homeless veterans who are unable to find work. The organization also helps veterans who have lost their homes due to foreclosure.

    The 15-year-old suspect police believe is responsible has been sent to a juvenile detention center in Natchez. Officials say he could also be charged as an adult.
