HINDS COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Interstate 20 westbound reopened sometime after 2 p.m. Wednesday. The interstate was closed for several hours following a crash involving an 18-wheeler.

According to an alert from the Mississippi Department of Transportation, a crash occurred on I-20 just past MS 18 at exit 40A towards Clinton / Vicksburg at 11:41 a.m.

It appears the 18-wheeler was hauling a large column on a flatbed when the load came loose and was launched several feet away from the big rig. The tractor trailer rolled onto its side before coming to a stop blocking both westbound lanes. It is unclear if any other vehicles were involved in the incident.

Officials have not yet stated what caused the Hinds County crash or if any injuries are involved.
