WIGGINS, MS (WLOX) - Mayor Jerry Alexander is out in Wiggins. Joel Miles won the GOP nomination with 74 percent of the vote. Alexander garnered only 24 percent of the vote.

Miles now faces Democrat Tina Davis in June.

Miles is currently the alderman-at-large for the City of Wiggins. The 60-year-old is co-owner of Hudson Tractor Supply in Wiggins.

Davis is from Wiggins. She left to join the Army then moved back in 2009. This is her first time to run. She says public service is her passion. Currently she works as a healthcare contractor. Davis is married with three children.

Miles beat incumbent Jerry Alexander with 74 percent of votes. Alexander had 24 percent of the vote.

"I think the attitude at city hall was such that folks just wanted to see something different. We need to treat the citizens of the city like I try to treat the folks at my business. When people came in you try to make them welcome and make them want to come back. You treat them like they want to be treated," Miles said.
