PHOENIX (CBS5) -

There was a rare sight at the Phoenix airport overnight as what's described as the world's most advanced solar-powered airplane touched down.

The Solar Impulse landed at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport at about 1 a.m. Saturday.

Solar Impulse is arriving from NASA's Moffett Field outside San Jose, California on the first leg of its 2013 Across America mission.

The crew will spend the next few days in Phoenix preparing for the next leg to Dallas.
