The Ocean Springs YMCA raised $3,000 for their youth swim team on Saturday with an open water swim race, according to organizers.

Thirty-two men and women from across the South took part in an open water swim beginning at Front Beach in Ocean Springs.

They braved the chilly water and swam in events that included a 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile and one mile.

The female winner for the one mile swim was Mia Stevens of Slidell, LA. She swam one mile in 28 minutes and 14 seconds.

Pete Prichard of Ocean Springs was the male winner of the one mile race. He swam it in 27 minutes and 33 seconds.
