Injured motorcyclists meets the woman who saved his life

GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

A motorcyclist was rescued by a woman whose identity has remained a mystery, until Wednesday night.

"What's up?" said Erik Rickman to Leslie Faurie as Faurie walked into his hospital room for the first time.

"Hey baby, how ya' feeling?" Faurie responded.

It was an emotional moment. Rickman thanked Faurie for saving his life.

"Everyone else was zooming on by. I might as well help," said Faurie.

"Yea man, there's the helmet I had on," said Rickman.

Still, Rickman wondered, how can you truly thank someone for saving your life?

"I remember like being in a panic, 'Where are my legs at!? What's wrong with my legs!?' I didn't know if I was going to make it, man. I didn't know if someone was going to run over me. Then, I remember her coming over and bending down and asking me what my name was and telling me to calm down," said Rickman recalling the moments after the accident.

That good Samaritan was Leslie Faurie. She's a 37-year-old mother of two, who waitresses at Logan's Steakhouse. She says dozens of cars passed Rickman, laying helpless on the ground. That wasn't an option for her.

"I just wanted to make sure he was okay. When I realized he was not okay, I stayed right there with him until they got there to get him," said Faurie.

She's not a nurse or a doctor. But, on April 19th she became a hero.

"She came and helped me, man. She saved my life, man. A lot of people don't realize that but she saved my life, man," said Rickman with a tear in his eye.

"It's just how I was raised. I would want someone to do the same for me," said Faurie.

She signed his cast, "love ya, Leslie." But Rickman said saving his life is the true mark she has left.

"Things could be a lot worse, you know? Broken bones, they'll heal up," said Rickman.

He says she's his guardian angel. On his way to recovery, she continues to send the message that she's behind him every step of the way.
