Jackson mayoral candidates debate

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jacksonians got a chance to assess candidates running for mayor of Jackson Tuesday night.

It was a packed house as five individuals who want to be the next top leader of the capital city faced off at a debate.

Incumbent Mayor Harvey Johnson Jr., Frank Bluntson, Jonathan Lee, Chokwe Lumumba and Regina Quinn took center stage at the Mississippi College School of Law answering questions on issues from crime to street repairs.

Due to time constraints and the number of candidates in the race, not all candidates were present. The League of Women Voters used impartial criteria to limit the number of candidates participating.

The democratic primary will be held Tuesday, May 7.
