CARTHAGE, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Authorities say a fight at a post-prom party in Leake County led to gunfire and two arrests over the weekend.

Sheriff Greg Waggoner says a DJ played a "racially offensive song" at the private party off Casey Circle in the Marydell Community. He said words were exchanged between a group of black partygoers and a group of white partygoers, and the two groups started fighting.

Waggoner said deputies arrived and heard gun shots. Once they got to the secluded cabin where the party was being held, law enforcement recovered two guns.

Five people were also cut in the disturbance although it's unclear what type of weapon or object was used.

Linzo Carter, 20, of Carthage and Daniel Elmore, 19, of Walnut Grove were arrested and charged with exhibiting a gun in public in a rude threatening manner.

Waggoner says more charges will likely be filed in the investigation.
