RIDGELAND, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Ridgeland police have made two arrests in the weekend armed robbery of a hotel clerk.

Ridgeland police Lt. John Neal says Johnny Vance, 25, of Canton and Jaiiah Smith, 20, of Madison have both been charged with armed robbery.

A man walked into the lobby of the Red Roof Inn on Adcock Street in Ridgeland sometime before 7 p.m. Sunday. He displayed a small semi-automatic pistol and demanded money from the clerk, Neal said. The man left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police believe Vance is the man with the gun who entered the hotel lobby. Smith is accused of driving the vehicle used to flee the scene after the robbery.

Both men are in the custody of the Ridgeland Police Department. They are being held without bond.

Police are continuing to investigate to determine if more people were involved in the robbery.

Monday, Ridgeland police released surveillance video of the armed robbery in the hopes of finding the person responsible.
