DJ Swearinger drafted by Houston in 2013 NFL Draft

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

Former Gamecocks free safety DJ Swearinger has been picked by the Houston Texans in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

Swearinger was known around the SEC as one of the hardest hitting safeties. However, he also drew ire from game officials who called penalties against him during several games.

In one instance, Swearinger legally hit Clemson running back Andre Ellington, but was flagged after taunting him.

The senior and former captain of the Gamecocks defense played nearly every game during his four years on campus except for one.
