Five groups of Mississippi Gulf Coast World War II veterans have been taken to Washington, DC to tour the World War II Memorial that was built to honor our Greatest Generation. What a great act. The Honor flights are carried out at no cost to the veterans. Money is donated and volunteers escort each person on the flight.
Just last week the 5th Honor flight from the Mississippi Gulf Coast was carried out to visit the World War II Memorial that opened almost 60 years after the end of that war. Upon their return to the Gulfport Airport a big crowd turned out to honor them. It is quite moving to see our citizens focused on others.
Honor Flight is such an appropriate name. As you show respect and honor others with high public esteem, you also honor yourself.
