For the last seven years, this event was basically a fishing tournament with various teams competing for top prizes.
Today, the fish are still there, but they have a lot more company.
The music, the characters, and the faces of South Mississippi -it's all wango tango.
"This year, we decided to change it up a little bit. We made it into a wango tango, which basically meant we had three days of kind of like the last hurrah for summer. We've had three days of music, food, and the fishing tournament. The weather has given us some obstacles but it has been a good event," said Clear Channel special events director Tracy Stopson.
A good event indeed.
Thousands of people made their way to the grounds of the Broadwater Beach Resort.
There they could find everything from jewelry, to T-shirts, to race cars, to fresh ground grits and cornmeal.
They could even give to a worthy cause.
But what they probably couldn't find was the meaning to the words "wango tango", so we found out for them.
"It is a huge music fest concert series that goes all along the nation. So we kind of got our own little version here. We've got the crawfish, and the shrimp, and everything out here. But it's just a southern version of Wango Tango," said Stopson.
Tracy Stopson says the event is growing each year, so expect an even bigger and better Wango Tango next year.
