GONZALES, LA (WAFB) -

Correction to a story WAFB published online Monday afternoon:

Monday afternoon the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office mistakenly said that an arrest warrant has been issued for Councilman Timothy Vessel. The release said the warrant was issued against Vessel for failing to appear in court to answer charges of stealing electricity. In fact, the warrant was for Vessel's son, also named Timothy.

Both are accused of stealing electricity by running extension cords from adjacent trailers to their own, in separate instances.

The City Councilman, Timothy Vessel was issued a summons in December 2012 to appear in court. His court date has been set for May 8, 2013 at 9 a.m.

Police say a neighbor accused the councilman of stealing electricity in November 2012.

Vessel was one of seven city leaders sworn in January 2, 2013.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Timothy Vessel Jr. is urged to contact the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office at 225-621-INFO (4636) or by texting 847411 to our anonymous tip line from any cellular device or Crime Stoppers at 225-344-STOP (7867).
