BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

A used car dealer accused of stealing over $5,000 and a car is wanted by sheriff's deputies.

The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office is looking for Damien Bowling, 33, of Baton Rouge. He owns A1 AutoPlex on Florida Boulevard.

Investigators said he sold a vehicle for $5,050 on Feb. 14, 2013, but did not release the title. They added when the customer reported the issue to police, the person found out the vehicle was reported stolen to EBRSO by the original owner.

According to Crime Stoppers, the original owner gave Bowling the vehicle in August 2012 to sell on consignment. However, the owner never saw it on the car lot and reported it stolen.

Police said the vehicle was later returned to the original owner, but the customer was left without the vehicle and or the $5,050 that was paid.

Bowling is about 5'10" and weighs around 200 pounds. He has brown hair and hazel eyes.

He faces charges of felony theft and theft of a motor vehicle.

Browning was the subject of an I-Team investigation in September 2012. A woman claimed she bought a car from the dealership in August 2011 and it took 10 months to get the title.

If you see him or know his whereabouts, you are urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 344-7867.

You can also text CS225 and a message to 274637 or send an anonymous email from Greater Baton Rouge Crime Stoppers on Facebook or www.crimestoppersbr.com.
