17 drug suspects arrested in Lucedale roundup

LUCEDALE, MS (WLOX) -

Seventeen people were arrested in Lucedale this week during a massive drug round-up. And according to MBN Director Marshall Fisher, more arrests are expected.

Those arrested face felony charges for allegedly manufacturing methamphetamine, obtaining prescription drugs by fraud, as well as selling crack and powdered cocaine, ecstasy and spice.

Investigators said the arrests are the result of an 18-month joint investigation by the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, George County Sheriff Department and Lucedale Police Department.

All the suspects were taken to the George County Regional Jail Thursday, where they were being held pending initial court appearances. (View a slideshow of the suspects: http://bit.ly/XVlCzF)
