Weekend Whereabouts April 19-21

SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) - South Mississippi never fails to provide activities for everyone. If you're looking for a few ways to head out of the house here are a some events for the weekend.

Cinema by the Shore has been canceled, but will be rescheduled for Friday, April 19.

Comb through a wide collection of military antiques and war souvenirs at the Gulf Coast Military Spring Collectors Show at the D'Iberville Civic Center. There's going to be firearms, swords, daggers, uniforms, medals, decorations and field gear. Plus there will be a military vehicle collectors rally.

The Pass Christian Chamber of Commerce wants you to pamper your palate in at their inaugural food and wine festival. Sip and nibble your way through delicious food, wine and other drinks brought in by local restaurants, beverage vendors and businesses throughout the coast.

Call for tickets

Put some bass in your boat for prize money and bragging rights. The 15th Annual Jackson County Sheriff's Benefit Bass Tournament is back with prizes for several categories including top male and female team and youngest fisherman. Food and drinks will be provided to all registered anglers. Come to compete or just see who gets the best catch during the weigh-in at 3 p.m.

Relying on gravity, uniquely decorated Soap box cars will race through downtown Moss Point for the Deborah Washington Memorial Soap box derby. Derby competitors between the ages of 8 and 17 have been priming their racers for this annual event. If you have never experienced a race like this one, you are in for a treat.

We in the South love our crawfish and what better way to enjoy them then by going to a festival dedicated to them. The 21st Annual MS Coast Coliseum Crawfish Music Festival is this Friday - Sunday. The festival features an assortment of carnival rides, a crawfish cook-off, and a variety of musical performances. Some performers include, Billy Currington, Lauren Alaina, Hunter Hayes and more.
