Twelve years ago the lives of a generation of Americans were changed forever. We could never forget the attacks of 9/11, 2001. As time has passed, as we remained vigilant, we hoped these terrible events would stay away from our shores.
So many times, our vigilance paid off and attempts to kill and hurt us were stopped. But this week in Boston, more than 170 people are hurting and three are dead, the result of another cowardly act that we are at a loss to explain.
What we can explain is the American Spirit. We watched and within seconds of the explosions so many people ran toward the danger. You see they were running to help the victims.
District Attorney Daniel Conley in Boston may have explained the American Spirit best when he said: "That's what Americans do in times of crisis. We come together and we help one another.
Moments like this; terrible as they are; don't show our weakness. They show our strength."
