South Mississippi Sends Truck Load Of Donations To Florida

An 18-wheeler loaded with relief supplies left Gulfport this morning bound for the Sunshine state.

Helene Hicks is taking food, water, blankets and other donations to Punta Gorda to help the 50 members of her family and their neighbors who are now living among the rubble of their homes thanks to Hurricane Charley.

The Gautier woman has been soliciting donations from businesses and individuals several days. She says she has made pickups in Hurley Pascagoula and Gautier. Hicks says people were dropping stuff off at the Cowan Road location until 11 last night. She says you just can't imagine the stuff we've gotten.

Hicks says she is really touched by the generosity of everyone who pitched in to help.
