2 Rankin Co. men sentenced for sex crimes

RANKIN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Two Rankin County men are headed to prison after being convicted of sex crimes.

According to District Attorney Michael Guest, Casey Burgess of Brandon was sentenced to 30 years in prison for three counts of rape.

Burgess was arrested on separate charges in September 2011. Authorities say he attempted to kidnap a woman from her driveway in the Castlewoods Pinnacle Subdivision at knife point, but the woman was able to get away. He was charged with kidnapping and aggravated assault.

Joseph Cook of Pearl was given two life sentences and a 20-year prison term for two counts of sexual battery against a child and one count of directing a minor to commit a felony.
