JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

A Jackson County man is behind bars accused of kidnapping and assaulting a woman he knew, according to Jackson County Sheriff Mike Byrd.

Byrd said William "Billy" Weber, 31, of the 1000 block of the St. Andrews Community seriously injured the woman with a blunt object.

The suspect then held her in a residence after the assault, Byrd said.

Weber was taken to the Jackson County Adult Detention Center pending a bail hearing in Jackson County Court. If convicted, Weber could face life in prison and a $20,000 fine.
