Boat show ends on a high note

GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - In a setting that many thought was made for an event like the boat show, The Pavilion was packed with visitors once again. In its final hours the Gulfport Boat and yacht show continued to wow the people who showed up.

"It's awesome. It's great. I'm actually here with Darren's Boats and Automotive. We already sold two boats, that's a plus. There's a lot to do. There's sharks I mean, you can't hope for a better day," Gilberto Dasilva said.

Christina Simmons told WLOX she had visited many Boat Shows in the past. The one in Gulfport, however, will go down in the memory books.

"I love it. I've been to so many before. I've never been to Gulfport, but Gulfport is going to be my favorite from now on. I've never seen this many boats. I've never been to a yacht sale. It's amazing, I love it," Simmons said.

The event had never made its way to Mississippi. It was somewhat of a test to bring it here, but from the looks of things the event went on without a hitch.

"The final day of the boat show was just incredible. We thought we had surpassed all our records yesterday, then Sunday came and the weather was absolutely beautiful," Boat Show Manager Rob Lynch said. " "Gulfport came and supported us by the thousands. We've already had orders for next year from dealers and manufacturers across the country to get in this show. Whoever wasn't in the show this year, wait until next year because its going to be twice as big."

The event was able to bring in people from across the country and the proof is in the numbers.  Organizers say the crowds are all the proof they needed to know the event was a success.
