Three Indicted In Dog Fighting Case

Three people have been indicted in Hancock county for running an illegal dog fighting operation. Twenty-three other people were indicted as spectators.

In January, authorities seized 29 pit bulls during a raid in the Kiln. All of the dogs were put down because a veterinarian determined they were too violent, and not suitable for adoption.

"With the cruelty to animals, in all in Hancock County, we just want to put a stop to it. It shocked me as to what kind of operation they had up there. We took a look at this case, and decided that basically, we're going to make an example out of this case, that it won't be tolerated here," Hancock County Sheriff Steve Garber said.

Dog fighting in Mississippi is a felony.
