SCOTTSDALE, AZ (CBS5) -

A 21-year-old transient is in the Scottsdale police doghouse after he allegedly crawled through a dog door to burglarize a residence Thursday.

John Akins was arrested after a brief struggle with police after they found him hiding in some bushes in the front yard of a nearby home in the area of Chaparral and Pima roads, according to a Scottsdale online police report.

A 49-year-old woman who owns the home saw the suspect walk by her bedroom door just after 6 a.m. and texted her roommate, a 47-year-old man who was asleep another room, according to the report.

The roommate woke to the text, confronted the suspect as he was walking out the back door and chased him to a fence, which the suspect jumped before fleeing, according to the report.

Police said they found him in the 8400 block of East Rancho Vista Drive.

Akins was booked into jail on a count of burglary and resisting arrest.

A deadly virus is threatening the crawfish industry in Southwest Louisiana. It's called white spot syndrome virus and it was first discovered in Thailand, but somehow it made its way to ponds in South Louisiana and specialists are struggling to find the funds to research a solution.  “The catch was increasing and increasing and then it dropped 70% and that's when you saw the dead crawfish floating in the water,” said a crawfish farmer of 34 years, Ian Garbarino.
