12-year-old boy hit by pick-up truck dies

HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

A 12-year-old boy died Thursday evening after the scooter he was riding collided with a pick-up truck.

Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove said 12-year-old Isaiah Payne died of blunt force trauma just before 6 p.m. Thursday.

Officials with the Harrison County Sheriffs Department said the accident happened on the corner of Saucier Lizana road and Herman Ladner road in Harrison County.

They said the driver of the truck was driving lawfully in the Southbound lane where he collided with Isaiah who was riding Northbound in that same lane.

Isaiah was quickly transported to Garden Park Hospital, but his injuries were too severe.

More information will be released by the Harrison County Sheriff's department after investigators complete an accident reconstruction.
