DPS: Truck goes off cliff, falls 200 feet

PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Authorities believe a crash on Interstate 17 caused a truck and trailer to go off a cliff Thursday afternoon.

ADOT said the crash happened about 2 p.m. on I-17 southbound at milepost 251, less than a mile south of the Sunset Point Rest Area in Mayer.

DPS said the truck went off the cliff and down about 200 feet before coming to a rest. At least one person has died, according to DPS.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.

No other details were immediately available.
