An egg hunt for a special cause

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

It was a fun-filled morning at the Biloxi Town Green as children and young adults with physical and mental challenges went on an Easter egg hunt.

There was also face painting, dancing and even a little friendly corn hole competition. The morning ended with a free picnic lunch.

The event was sponsored by North Bay Civitan Club of D'Iberville-St. Martin, Biloxi-Edgewater Civitan Club and the City of Biloxi.

President of North Bay Civitan Club Keith Wilson said when the event started, 5 years ago, they had about 20 participants. This year, there was more than 200 participants.

The Pascagoula Panthers open the 2017 football season on the road. In fact, their first three games are road contests. That scheduling quirk may give field turf crews just enough time to get War Memorial Stadium ready for the September 8 home opener. The wet weather in South Mississippi is placing quite the burden on construction workers as they attempt to complete stadium renovations. The project was suppose to be finished before the beginning of Pascagoula's football season.
