Fire spreading north of Hwy 53

HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

Friday afternoon, Harrison County fire officials were working to contain a growing woods fire north of Highway 53 in Harrison County.

It had spread to the point where homes were in the path of the fire. These homes are near Doc Lizana Road. Vegetation at C.C. Camp Road was also on fire.

Harrison County has several trucks on the fire line, as does the forestry service. A helicopter is monitoring the scene from above.
