JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Jackson mother is horrified and outraged after video was posted on YouTube and Facebook of her daughter being bullied and punched on a school bus. The students involved are from Chastain Middle School in Jackson.

This incident happened Tuesday, according to the victim's mother. The video shows that as the bus is moving, a group gathered around a female 7th grader.

One girl seemingly recognized the video being taken but never stops taunting and harassing the victim. She's even encouraged by other students watching.

The young victim, who we have agreed not to identify, tries to reason with her tormentor but to no avail. Minutes later she is punched, her hair is pulled and she is pinned against the bus window.

Finally, another student steps in to stop the fight. The video has now been removed from YouTube.

In a statement, Jackson Public School officials say they became aware of the violent incident and parents have been contacted and the appropriate disciplinary actions have been taken against the student responsible for instigating the violent behavior shown in the video.

The statement also says the incident took place while the bus was in transit and could not be addressed until the bus came to a complete stop. Details into what type of disciplinary action was taken against the apparent instigator were not released.
