Two-vehicle accident leaves one person dead

GONZALES, LA (WAFB) -

St. Gabriel Police and Louisiana State Troopers responded to a two-vehicle accident that left one person dead Saturday afternoon.

It happened on Highway 74 at Bluff Rd around 2:00 pm, according to Tpr. Jared Sandifer. 49-year-old Cheryl Babylon of Slidell lost control of her PT Cruiser, overcorrected and drove in front of a F-250 Truck, Sandifer said in a news release. The driver of the truck had only minor injuries.

Babylon died at the scene despite being properly restrained. The driver of the F-250 only suffered minor injuries.

State Police investigators believe speed may have been a factor.
