PASCAGOULA, MS (WLOX) -

A hit and run results in one car overturned in a ditch and three in the emergency room.

Pascagoula Police responded to a hit and run accident Friday evening a little after 7PM at the intersection of Chicot Road and Nathanhale Avenue.

The crash occurred on Chicot Road in the northbound lane. A 1995 Buick Park Avenue driven by Ashley Manuel was stopped at the intersection when she was stuck in the rear by a 1998 Nissan Sentra driven by Velma Frazier.

Manuel said after she was struck in the rear by Frazier, Frazier drove around her and continued Northbound towards Denny Avenue(Hwy 90).

Witnesses stated they saw Frazier traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on Denny Avenue, weaving in and out of traffic while passing other motorist.

Witnesses stated that Frazier lost control of the vehicle and slid off the roadway. The vehicle rolled over on its roof and the final resting point was in a ditch near LY Buffet on Denny Ave.

Frazier was under water for a short period of time, when police and witnesses pulled her from her vehicle.

Frazier was the only occupant in the vehicle and was transported to Singing River Emergency Room where she was then admitted. Frazier's injuries are unknown at this time.

Manuel and her passenger, Shakendra Galloway, went to the ER by private vehicle and were released.

Frazier was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, driving while license suspended and no proof of liability insurance. The crash is under investigation.
