GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - A bomb threat scare Friday morning at the Harrison County Courthouse turned out to be nothing more than a rumor spreading.
Harrison County Sheriff's officials tell us a conversation was overheard at a nearby McDonald's that mentioned a bomb outside the courthouse. That person then notified officials.
County deputies and Gulfport police treated the call as an actual bomb threat, and as a precaution everyone was evacuated from the courthouse and the justice court.
Bomb sniffing dogs checked out the buildings, but nothing suspicious was found.
People were allowed back inside the courthouse about an hour later.
On Thursday, an Ohio man pleaded guilty to calling in dozens of bomb threats at courthouses across Mississippi and four other states late last year.
