WLOX Editorial: Promoting tourism together

We support the idea of our three coastal counties coming together to promote tourism. The formation of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Regional Convention and Visitors Bureau should be good for Harrison, Hancock and Jackson Counties.

People who visit here do not care about City or County Boundary Lines. They see it the way nature made it, one big beautiful Mississippi Gulf Coast. The current system of the three counties tourism commissions competing for the same tourists can dilute the message.

Let's do away with any appearance of turf battles here on the coast and support the combined plan. After all, about one in five jobs on the Mississippi coast is related to tourism.

The combined efforts of the tourism experts of the three counties can only mean more bang for the buck and good things for all of us.

That's our opinion, we would like to hear yours. Email your thoughts to editorials@wlox.com, or post your comments below.
