Ole Miss fans test Missouri barbecue

Posted: Updated:
KANSAS CITY, MO -

(WMC-TV) - There is one city trying to take Memphis' title for "best barbecue".

Kansas City is hosting the Ole Miss Rebels in the NCAA tournament this week and many fans are trying to figure out if Missouri's claims to having good barbecue carry any weight.

Kym Dancer says she has enjoyed Memphis' barbecue, but the beef brisket at Three Little Pigs in Kansas City is what makes her mouth water.

"We do not put coleslaw on them," she said. "So there is not a lot of fat on it. Cut it down."

All Dancer asks is that Mid-Southerners keep an open mind.

Action News 5's Lindsey Brown tried the sauces and the brisket -- and she said it was very good.

"We get a lot of visitors and they say, 'When I'm in Kansas City, I have to have barbecue.' And we give it to them, and they come back and tell us they love it," said Dancer.

The questions is still out -- who has the better barbecue? In Kansas City, their opinion is... there are enough hungry barbecue-loving people out there to enjoy it all.

"I know Memphis is, but we are known for it also," said Dancer.
