Governor to choose DMR director from final 3 candidates

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - The Commission on Marine Resources has selected the three finalists for the Department of Marine Resources' executive director position. The commission will now forward those names to the governor, who will choose the new director from among the trio of candidates.

Last week, the CMR narrowed the list of 17 applicants down to five finalists, who were interviewed Monday. Following Tuesday morning's monthly meeting, the board again went into executive session to discuss the candidates and decide on the final three. The names of those applicants will not be made public.

The DMR executive director's job has been vacant since the former director, Dr. Bill Walker, was fired by the commission in mid-January.
