It's a voyage that helps introduce tourists to those small waterfront towns that they may not ordinarily think to visit. A cruise ship docked in Biloxi on Wednesday night. Then on Thursday, passengers visited several attractions including the Biloxi lighthouse and the visitors center. The Grande Caribe set sail from New Orleans and will continue on until it reaches St. Petersburg. Crew members said it's the stops along the way that makes these small cruises stand out.
HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

Expect to see smoke on the South Mississippi horizon today.  We've learned from the U.S. Forest Service nearly 1,700 acres of vegetation will be burned in Harrison County.  The prescribed burn area is about four miles north of D'Iberville, and one mile east of Highway 15.

Because the wind is forecast to be out of the south and southwest today, forest service personnel expect the smoke will be pushed inland, and therefore, shouldn't impact the coastal area.

Another 1,800 acre burn is planned today on the Forrest/Perry County line about four miles north of Wiggins.

Before today, members of the U.S. Forest Service say they've burned 66,039 acres in the DeSoto Ranger District.
