GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -
Gulfport police are asking for the public's assistance in identifying a man they said attacked a woman then stole her purse at the parking lot at Gulfport Premium Outlets Wednesday morning.
The suspect is described as a heavy set, Hispanic male. He was last scene wearing a black t-shirt, shorts and white shoes.
The victim had reportedly just left the Polo Outlet when the suspect assaulted her. After grabbing her purse, he allegedly fled the scene in a small four door vehicle driven by another Hispanic man, according to Deputy Chief Leonard Papania. That vehicle may be a turquoise Honda Accord or Civic.
The woman was taken to the hospital for treatment of her injuries. She was later released.
Papania said the suspect may be a man captured on surveillance video at the Polo Outlet.
This investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information on the identity of this suspect is asked to contact the Gulfport Police Department at 228-868-5959.
