MESA, AZ (CBS5) -

Mesa police are warning of a door-to-door scam that could pop up in your neighborhood.

Police said a group of men are going around wearing 'Dish Network' shirts, asking to check your DirecTV or Cox Cable connection and offering to "save you money" on your bill.

Police are reminding residents to never let a stranger into your home or give out any personal information. They may be looking through your home to see what they can steal later.

If you switched your service because of these men, call Dish Network to make sure your new contract is legitimate and let them know how these men talked you into switching.

If they provided you a number on a business card or flyer, look up the number online or in the phone book. Anyone selling door-to-door should have a solicitor's permit issued by the City of Mesa.
