How many local governments does it take to fix one city street? If it's DeBuys Road, the answer is three. We all know getting the leaders of just one government to agree with one another can be difficult.
Throw in two other governments and their leaders, and even getting a street paved becomes more than a little cumbersome. They all think long and hard before they spend $300,000 on a one mile paving, curb and sidewalk project. But the leaders of Gulfport, Biloxi, and Harrison County are cooperating.
Full disclosure here, our TV station sits on DeBuys Road. So we, like the thousands of others who drive that road, will soon benefit from this cooperation. Let's hope this soon to be smooth road is just one of many more cooperative efforts to come among our local governments.
