GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

A teenage boy reportedly admitted to setting fires in a vacant home on the 1900 block of 47th Avenue Sunday evening, according to Gulfport Fire Battalion Chief Chris Henderson. 

Henderson said crews arrived around 6:30 p.m. and found a home vandalized after a neighbor called 911. Henderson said light smoke was coming out of a back door that was left open.  

Firefighters quickly extinguished two small fires found in two separate rooms and removed the burned material. No injuries have been reported. 

Neighbors told officials they witnessed a minor leave the back door of the home.  

Police were called to question that teen. Henderson said the teen told authorities he planned on putting out the fires, but was unable to due to smoke.
