PHOENIX (CBS5) -
A bicyclist crossing a Phoenix roadway mid-block was struck and killed by two separate hit-and-run motorists last month and now one of the drivers has been arrested.
Phoenix police spokesman Sgt. Steve Martos said Forrest Christopher, 30, was arrested on Wednesday on charges of leaving the scene of a fatal crash.
Angel Hernandez-Sotelo, 47, was crossing the street in the area of Seventh Street and Roeser when he was struck by a vehicle traveling north just before 9 p.m. on March 9, according to Phoenix Police Spokesman Sgt. Steve Martos.
The driver of the vehicle fled. A short distance away, the motorist pulled into a liquor store on the northeast corner of Seventh Street and Roeser, climbed out of the rental car and took off running, Martos said.
The bicyclist was struck by a second vehicle, which also fled the scene. Hernandez-Sotelo died at the scene.
Police are looking for the second suspect. People with information about the crash are asked to call the Phoenix Police Department at 602-262-6141. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO for Spanish.
