JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Mississippi Community Symphonic Band had a special guest Saturday night for its first 2013 concert.

There was plenty of variety and even swing music in the air.

Nearly 1,000 people took in the sounds at Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson.

The Mississippi Swing was also there to add a few tunes.

Songs from "The Sound of Music" were performed, along with other classics such as "When Irish Eyes are Smiling."

WLBT's Walt Grayson was invited to perform as a guest soloist on the bass drum.

The Mississippi Community Symphonic Band's last concert of the season will be held May 18th.
