GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

A Harrison County jury found former TSA agent Ruben Benitez, 46, guilty Thursday for the murder of Stacey Wright. Circuit Court Judge John Gargiulo sentenced Benitez to life in prison.

Dr. Paul McGarry testified in court and stated Benitez stabbed Wright 12 times in the chest and left arm in her D'Iberville apartment on September 20, 2011.

Benitez and Wright had worked together as TSA agents prior to Wright moving to D'Iberville.

Wright's family members spoke with WLOX News saying they were very happy with the life sentence.

"We all feel much better now," said the victim's sister, Rosie Scott. "I know that she's looking down in heaven on us and she's saying. 'Wow! You guys did it... You got me vindicated!'"

"We are very pleased the system was able to provide justice for Stacey's family today" said District Attorney Joel Smith. "She had a bright future and did not deserve the fate handed to her by the Defendant."

Family members want to thank everyone who worked on their sister's case.
