Murder suspect will be extradited back to Miss.

Lawrence Reed, 22, is charged with the murder of Marco McMillian Lawrence Reed, 22, is charged with the murder of Marco McMillian

(WMC-TV) - The man accused of murdering a Clarksdale, Mississippi mayoral candidate faced a judge for the first time Monday morning.

Lawrence Reed told Shelby County Judge Louis Montesi he was not going to challenge his extradition back to Coahoma County, Mississippi where he faces murder charges.

The 22-year-old suspect faced the judge with a sling still around his arm. He was taken to the hospital after police say he crashed Marco McMillian's SUV Tuesday. The next day, McMillian's body was found.

Reed told the judge Monday that he did not have an attorney. He will now go back to Coahoma County to face murder charges.

Last Thursday, the Coahoma County Sheriff's Department charged Lawrence Reed with murder.

Marco McMillian's family is now speaking out, sharing what they know about how McMillian died.

In a prepared statement emailed to Action News 5 Sunday night, family members said, "We know that Marco was brutally murdered. His body was found on Wednesday, February 26th, 2013 beaten, dragged, and burned (set afire). We feel this was not a random act of violence based on the condition of the body when it was found. Marco, nor anyone, should have their lives end in this manner."

Coahoma County authorities have not told Action News 5 exactly when Lawrence Reed will be taken back to Mississippi to face those murder charges.
